My Daughter & The Opera Carmen

I discovered this album in an old cabinet at my Mom's house.  As I listen, this is the perfect music to pass a rainy day like today and reminds me of my daughter.

When she was a toddler, we were channel surfing and came across a televised performance of Carmen by the New York Metropolitan Opera.

I knew this was not typical viewing for a two year old, but my daughter immediately paused her busy body and sat down, mesmerized by Carmen, her voice, the soldiers, the action, the music.

My daughter sweetly attempted to mimic Carmen's operatic voice, getting up, marching and twirling her body around our living room.

The performance transcended her young age's limited ability to truly understand the full meaning of the opera.  She simply enjoyed it in the moment, in her own special way.

She still enjoys Carmen today, particularly Habanera.  I hope you also enjoy this performance by the New York Metropolitan Opera.
